If you are up for an adventurous and beautiful hike, make sure to visit Parc natural del penyal d’Ifac in Calpe. This hike will give you beautiful views of the city Calpe and the sea. You can climb to the top of the rock that you can see from the city Calpe.
Good to know before doing this hike in Calpe
There are some things you should know before you begin this hike. Before you go, it is obligatory to reserve a spot for the day to do the hike. This is because there is a limit on the people that can walk the track at the same time. Another important thing is that children under 18 are not allowed to continue the hike after the tunnel. The first part will give you beautiful views of the city as well even before you enter the tunnel, so with kids it is still worth to go. If you continue after the tunnel, proper hiking shoes are necessary, the path becomes dangerous and rocky. The hike is beautiful and adventurous.

Sneak peek of the hike Penyal d’Ifach
After you get through the tunnel, the path immediately becomes more difficult. You will walk on a narrow path along the edge, where at some parts there are chains available to hold on to. You will climb towards the top of the rock and the views are beautiful. Clouds were incoming on our way up, but this made our pictures more mystical and amazing. When you reach the top, it is time to rest and prepare for the walk back to the parking lot. It will take 2 to 3 hours to go up and down to the parking lot. This hike might sound scary, but it is well maintained and systems are in place to prevent crowded paths. It is totally worth it if you’re in the area!
Where to park in Calpe?
There is a parking lot near the hike where you can park your camper. In summer the parking fill up very early, but this is luckily not a problem in winter for us. It is not allowed to stay overnight in the city of Calpe with your camper. Signs are located when you enter the city that you can only stay during the day.
