The Torups Slott is a perfect place to spend your first/last night and day in Sweden. The beautiful forest will surprise you. It is perfect for a quiet night before or after the ferry between Rostock and Trelleborg.
Nature reserve around Torups Slott
The forest around the castle is beautiful. There are multiple hiking routes available, these are indicated with different symbols and colors. We combined the red which leads you to the castle with the yellow route that crosses it, altogether it took us approximately 1.5h. This was a wonderful first hike in Sweden, and we found our first wildlife. You can spot deer around this forest, but you will more easily find the mosquitos. They will bite you when you stand still to look around. Because of that, you should put on pants and make sure they can not come through it. I found out my yoga pants are not protective enough. Also spray some DEET around you to make sure they will go away. Despite the mosquitos, it is a stunning first place to stay in Sweden, close to the ferry.
