  • Beach day; One of the popular things to do in Sagres is going to the beach. There are multiple beaches around Sagres, where you can spend a day relaxing.
  • Surfing; Sagres is a popular surfing destination in the Algarve. Praia do Tonel has the best waves for surfing, and you can find different surf schools in the area.
  • Lighthouse of Cabo de São Vicente; You can make a day trip from Sagres to the lighthouse nearby. This place gives you great views of the cliffs and sea.
  • Vegan foods; There are multiple vegan places available in Sagres where you can have a drink and/or bite. Find all popular places further in this blog.
  • SUP, Kayaking or diving; You can decide to go SUPing or kayaking along the cliffs. One of the sup companies is this one. What to know about Sagres fortress

One of the things to do in Sagres I mentioned above is the Sagres fortress. The fortaleza de Sagres is a popular place to visit. The entrance price for the fortress is low. It is only 3.50 for adults, and you can find all prices here. It is open during the day and the times vary in high and low season. From May to September it is open from 9:30-20:00, from October to April it is open from 9:30-17:30. In the fortress, you can walk around and there are information signs along the path. The route will take approximately 1-1.5h to explore. The fort is also a highly popular place to watch the sunset. It has spectacular views of the cliffs and the beaches. The fortress is not only popular for tourist, but you will also find fishermen fishing along the cliffs.

Where is the beach in Sagres Portugal?

The beaches near Sagres are beautiful, the water is crystal clear and the sand is gorgeous. The beaches are great to take a dip during the summer heat. The nearest beaches in Sagres are Praia do Tonel, Praia da Mareta, Praia do Martinhal and Praia da Baleeira. The beaches Mareta and Martinhal are the biggest beaches around Sagres. Praia do Tonel is the most known beach with amazing cliff sides. This particular beach is great for surfing, because of the strong waves. Besides the beaches nearby Sagres, you will find multiple beaches along the coast of the Algarve.

Sagres parking with motorhome

Parking places in Sagres can be hard to find, but there are some areas where you can park easily. This big parking lot near the fortress is accessible for cars and motorhomes to park during the day. From here you can visit the fortress and the town. There are some smaller car parks available near the beaches, but this is the only bigger car park in Sagres.
